That's right, my girl's in the Lone Star State, moseyin' up to the likes of Jack Rousch, Martin Truex, all the big boys! I'm so happy right now I could spit! Already have a pic of her from one of the Garage Cams - silly girl doesn't have a camera! Now she's sitting on top of the spotter's trailer - she's a great pit reporter, is keeping me updated through text messages and phone calls. Just got a text "This is so feakin' awesome I can't believe it!" I KNOW GIRL!!
Well well well - here's the man that pretty much started it all for the 3 Sisters, genetic proof that there is a Race Gene! Thanks Dad - for the genetics, and for taking the time to write down some memories and observations!
Now we really had fun last night. FINALLY the car drove so much better and I got to do some serious racin. Due to the luck of the draw we started next to last in the heat, did not finish in the top 3 to make the A feature without running the B feature, Had a hell of a good race in the B, finished close enough to the front to run the A feature. Ran in the middle of 3 cars side by side for about 4 laps of the 8. Car on inside would bump me and then I would bump the car on the outside, damn we are having fun now. But two laps from the end rear suspension part got bent from the banging each other but held on to qualify for the A.
My good ole pit crew busted there butts to get it fixed, Just barely got on the track as the race was starting. Just caught up to the field when the green flag waved. We came flying out of the pits when all of the cars were ready to start the race. Started last because of getting out so late, {24th] but some one said we finished 14th. Had a barrel of fun playing catch up
The car still needs some adjustments to make it handle better, but it is a hell of a lot better than before, at least I can race it now. I'm sooo glad the car was the crazy driving problem and not me, went to sleep with a smile on my face.
And the second nice thing of the evening, Chris introduced me to [itsaliving] one of my xanga friends. It was so neat to meet him. Other than family Jeff is the first xangan I have met. He is a great guy and he told me his dad is doing very well now.
We are going to knock out a few dings{heh heh} and go racin next Fri night .WAHOOOOO>
Third nice thing. AllState Foundation paid for a great bunch of deaf kids to come to the races, They asked some of us drivers to go up in the stands and sign autographs, Now that was a fun time signing cards and T-shirts for those kids. I hope they had a good time.
BEER CANS FLY AT BIVINS'S CAR
It didn't take long for Terry Bivins to se off the "Hate Bivins" group last night at Lakeside Speedway. The more thoughtless ones of the group threw beer cans at Bivins' stock car.
Bivins and Joe Wallace, the current "good guy" collided during the feature. Wallace, running second at the time, finished eigth. Bivins suffered right rear suspension problems and the car came down on the tire and caused a flat tire.
"I guess I'm the bad guy and I guess that's the way it's going to be," said Bivins. "But the fans tink they see a lot of things out there that really doesn't happen."
In explaining a situation which immediately after the race Wallace said no one except a rough track was to blame, Bivins said, "Frankly, the track was rough and there was not much room to race. I tried to pass on the low groove and there wasn't even much room on the high groove. There was no place to race."
But then Bivins, always known as an aggresive driver, added, "You can't follow everybody all night. You've got to try to pass. You've got to race."
Bivins said he'd return this week with every intention of trying to win again.
"Love me or hate me, I just hope the fans come out and watch." said the multi-time Lakeside champion of years past.
It certainly was a stormy season." said Vern Claiborne, who operates the track. "That beer can throwing episode certainly isn't anything we like to discuss, but you certainly have to say that Terry is aggressive."
Both Bivins and Wallace said their cars bounced most of the way around the track. Bivins said he felt in turn four was the only place he could successfully pass Wallace, the track's current point leader and a 7-time winner this year. Instead veteran Bob Kosiski of Omaha raced away with his third (win) of the season here.
What a story! At Lakeside, August 4th of this year, Terry Bivins got back on the track in a late model - same track the article was written about - Lakeside Speedway. This time there weren't any boos... it was pretty much a big reunion, a Legend back where he belongs, and I didn't see one single beer can thrown! The car misbehaved, but that's all taken care of now, look for Bivins to be back out next weekend, Aug. 25th - can't wait! NASCarla
